Sustainable Business Game

Sustainability is the next big thing! With sustainability on the agenda of politicians and in the minds of consumers, sustainability is the next big market to explore for multinationals, but also for new businesses. The Sustainable Business Game is a competition for university students with an idea for a sustainable product or service. Students will assess the market potential for their product or service.

Participants follow lectures on assessing the potential of their own product or service idea and receive coaching from TU Delft and Erasmus University Rotterdam in doing their feasibility study. The results are presented to a jury and the best analysis will be rewarded with €1000,- and coaching from several partners of the Sustainable Business Game to guide the further start-up of the business.

The weekly lectures consist of three parts. First a University lecturer introduces theoretical information about the different aspects of carrying out a feasibility study and starting up a company, secondly a guest lecturer (amongst others; Michael Braungart, Cradle 2 Cradle) gives his/her view on the practical side of the subject and, thirdly, the students execute a case study, supervised by both a university lecturer and a guest lecturer.

Besides attending the lectures, the students have to carry out a feasibility study of their own product or service. Students will apply the knowledge from the lectures and case studies to their own business case. The feasibility study can be done either in a group or alone. The result of the feasibility study is a written report graded and a presentation. The best business cases are selected to be a presented to a national, independent jury. The winner appointed by this jury will receive several prizes (money, consultancy, location etc.) in order to set up a real business.
